Immigrant children are doing better in Sweden. It shows findings from a new study comparing the integration of descendants of immigrants and natives into native New York, Los Angeles, Stockholm, Paris, Berlin, Vienna, Amsterdam and Brussels.
The researchers analyzed labor market participation, occupational status and income among descendants after immigrants and concluded that Stockholm has succeeded best because it is in this city's social background, such as parents' education and labor market status, to say the least about the youth's labor affiliation compared to the other cities.
In order to compare which international cities best make immigrant children, researchers have researched at the researcher at the Department of Social Research, Liza Reisel, considering labor market participation, occupational status and income.
Reisel, Liza, Researcher II PhD, Sociology
Reisel concluded that Stockholm has succeeded best because it is in this city's social background, as parents' education and labor market status, to say the least about the youth's employment relationship in comparison with the other cities.
- At the opposite end of the scale, we find Berlin and Vienna. These are the two cities that get the worst when looking at the opportunities for immigrant immigrants to settle in the labor market, "says Reisel.
The findings from the study are included as a chapter in the book "The Changing Face of World Cities". The book explores how young people with immigrant background adapt to education, labor, gender, neighborhood, citizenship and identity on both sides of the Atlantic. ERRORERRORERROR
