The Northern European Association for Language Technology (NEALT) invites submissions to its bi-annual conference on human language and speech technologies. NoDaLiDa 2013 will be held between May 22 - May 24, 2013, on the campus of the University of Oslo (Norway).
The conference has been held every two years in various northern European universities since 1977, and it's the first time it will be held in Oslo.
University of Oslo, Department of Linguistics and Scandinavian Studies will organize the conference "NODALIDA 2013 - Nordic Conference on Computational Linguistics" 22 - 24 May 2013. The conference has been held every two years in various northern European universities since 1977, this is the first time the conference will be held in Oslo.
NoDaLiDa will address all aspects of speech recognition and synthesis, natural language processing, and computational linguistics-including work in closely related neighbouring disciplines (such as, for example, linguistics or psychology) that is sufficiently formalized or applied to bear relevance to speech and language technologies.
NoDaLiDa will bring together approximately 150 scientists and language technologists from universities in many countries in Northern Europe: Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Greenland, Faroe Islands, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and northwestern Russia.

The conference will focus on language technology in many different forms such as speech recognition and speech synthesis, tagging and parsing, language modeling, machine learning of natural language and machine translation and more. The NoDaLiDa invites paper submissions in three distinct tracks:
- Regular papers on substantial, original, and unpublished research, including empirical evaluation results. - Short papers on smaller, focused contributions, work in progress, negative results, surveys, or opinion pieces. - Student papers on completed or ongoing work, where at least the first author is a Master or PhD student.
There will be a fourth track for system demonstrations, with a separate call for papers and submission deadline in the spring of 2013.
