Bergen Public Library invites to a conference on freedom of expression 22 to 23. October 2012.
The aim of the conference is to focus on freedom of expression through lectures, debates and cultural events, creating a national forum on the issue of freedom of expression for participants from all over the country and inform of the project Cities of Refuge and Bergen Free City.
Bergen Public Library invites to a conference on freedom of expression on 23. October 2012. The conference is organized in cooperation with the organization ICORN - International Cities of Refuge and Rafto Foundation of Freedom of Expression as a sponsor.
ICORN leader Helge Lunde will lead the conference, while Hilde Sandvik, debate editor in the local newspaper BT (Bergens Times), will lead the second day of debate. Among the key speakers are the deputy leader of International PEN Moris Farhi with his lecture "The Courage to forget", former Rafto Prize winner Peter Molnar from Budapest, Peter Normann Waage in the Norwegian PEN and journalist and filmmaker Beate Arnestad. The organizers will show Arnestads documentary "Forced into silence" and there will also be am opportunity to hear jazz poetry with former Cities of Asylum Easterine Kire and band. Bergen's own Cities of Asylum Author will be presented for the first time.
